Citizenship Credit Restoration
When students are in danger of losing citizenship credit, they should work with the teacher issuing the U. Interventions during the term can often prevent a U. Ideally, the goal of citizenship grades should be to positively change student behavior and allow for increased success in learning.
- When a U is given, teachers and students should arrange to make-up the specific credit. Teachers issuing a U should look for options that change negative behaviors effecting classroom learning/performance.
- There is not a set requirement if the student is making up the U with the teacher who issued the U. Teachers have flexibility for removing a U given to a student in their class (including attendance/behavior contracts).
If a teacher and student are unable to work out an agreeable solution, the following options are available, but require a fee of $5 per U:

- Increase GPA by .5 the following term
- Perfect attendance
- Academic Credit Retrieval
- Complete Citizenship make-up via Canvas
- School or District Service Project
