Viewmont High School Honors Recognition Program

There is no application for academic honors or citizenship honors.  Those students will be automatically selected based on the following criteria, and the lists of names will be posted. 

Students who complete grades 9-12 without receiving any unsatisfactory citizenship marks (U's) and have met graduation requirements are eligible to graduate with Citizenship Honors.

For all levels of academic honors:

  • Must meet graduation requirements

  • Have taken at least five (5) honors, AP, or core CE classes (core is Math, Science, English, Social Studies, or World Language)

Additional Requirements for each level:
Graduation with Academic Distinction (White Braid): Have a Cumulative GPA of 4.0 through 3rd term
Graduation with High Academic Honors (Gold Braid): Have a Cumulative GPA of 3.80 - 3.999 through 3rd term
Graduation with Academic Honors (Silver Braid): Have a Cumulative GPA of 3.60 - 3.799 through 3rd term

The honor cord list will be posted outside the counseling office on April 21, 2025.
The citizenship honor cord list will be posted outside the main office on May 9, 2025.

Honor cords will be on sale in the school ticket office after graduation orientation on May 16th, then in the counseling office between 7:00 am and 3:00 pm on May 19th - May 21st. They will cost $8.00 each.

Departmental honor cords will only be given to the school's Sterling Scholar award recipients.  There will be no other departmental honor cords given.
